A Model Prayer
What does it look like to bring an honest, humble, and bold prayer before God? Daniel 9 gives us one of the most remarkable models of prayer in all of Scripture. Daniel, a man of extraordinary faithfulness, does not rush into petition. He begins by acknowledging the deep shame of his people, their wickedness, their rebellious attitudes, their rejection of God's grace and the counsel of his prophets. Yet in the same breath, he lifts his eyes to the glorious righteousness, power, and mercy of God. This tension between human failure and divine faithfulness is not meant to discourage us. It is meant to orient us. When we understand who we are before God and who God is before us, prayer stops being a religious exercise and becomes a genuine encounter. Daniel's prayer challenges us to ask whether we approach God with that same honest reckoning, and whether we truly believe that heaven is not distant or indifferent but actively waiting to respond to our cries with mercy and grace.
