The Possibility of Fraudulent Faith

What does it actually look like to reject Jesus Christ? Most of us would picture someone verbally denying his divinity or openly mocking the faith. But Hebrews 10:26-31 takes us somewhere far more uncomfortable: it points us to actions, not just words. This passage forces us to reckon with the possibility of what we might call fraudulent faith, a profession of belief that is contradicted by a life of deliberate, unrepentant sin. In this message, we examine the difference between faith that endures through difficulty and a profession that collapses the moment the path gets hard. The question this raises for each of us is not a comfortable one: does the way we live confirm or contradict what we say we believe? Active faith, the kind that draws near to God, holds fast to confession, and builds up the body of believers around us, is not a way to earn salvation. It is the evidence that salvation is real.
